Sell Electricity Generated by a Wind Turbine

   9594

The Skystream is now fully MCS Certified so you will be able to claim the  'feed-in tariff' (or 'FIT') which pays you for all the electricity that you generate - even if you use it.

This means you get paid 28p per unit you generate, in addition to the money you save not buying the electricity, typically around 12p per unit, and the money you receive, a minimum of 3p per unit, for selling surplus electricity to the grid. So, assuming you use half of what you generate and export half, each unit of electricity your Skystream generates is worth on average 35.5p.

So on a site where a Skystream wind turbine is generating 3,400 units per year the combined income and savings are approximately £1,200 per year. Not only is this income tax free, all generation and export tariffs are linked to the Retail Price Index (RPI) which ensures that each year they follow the rate of inflation.

Finally, as the trend of electricity price is relentlessly upwards, any future electricity rises will not affect you as much, and the payback on your turbine wil be accelerated.
